I'm a biomedical engineer and independent consultant specialising in X-ray imaging, with a PhD from Politecnico di Milano on in-room image guidance for hadron therapy. I work across an imaging system's stack: acquisition physics and calibration, reconstruction algorithms, and the production software that ties them together, plus the detector electronics and embedded work in between. That is the point where a research idea has to hold up against a real clinical machine.
Previously I led engineering teams on dental and clinical CBCT systems at Cefla and medPhoton, developed and maintained tomographic reconstruction code, and ran image quality control to IEC standards. Before that I designed a robotic C-arm from scratch for patient positioning verification in hadron therapy at CNAO, from 9-degree-of-freedom geometric calibration through to clinical commissioning.
I speak the language of research (peer-reviewed publications, international conferences) as well as industrial software development in C++, Python and CUDA. Today I put that experience to work for companies and research centres as an independent consultant, supporting development teams on X-ray imaging projects.
